Despite the chilly 50° weather, Howard University students “popped out” for the No Limits: Springfest Fashion Show, bringing in a full house!
Energy high, Fabolous opened the show repping New York city and praising Howard as “The best HBCU in the country.”
The show kick started with a fierce opening made by Howards’ very own, Pharr Browser, wearing a shining silver gown by Rawan. The collection dawned sparkling gowns that lit up the runway.
The show exhibited multiple diverse brands from local designers such as Afleeton Menswear, Agana Black Excellence, Hope Wade Designs, 626 Clothing, Mikey Taylor, Clyopatra Designs, Isley Bolar, Wanda Newby, Walker Wear and Obioma. Each collection had their own unique feel and look, such as 626 Clothing’s bold fur jackets and detailing and Mikey Taylor’s dedication to singer Prince in her designs.
The show also featured multiple Howard student made brands such as ADW, Bryan Lewin, Spade, The Players Club, Capsulated, and Lost & Found denim. Each brand exhibited their own unique style, such as ADW’s diverse collection of bold detailed denim, lace up leather pants and tile plaid button downs. The Players Club collection of distressed “Player” hoodies and featuring of a distressed hoodie dress took a bold stand on the runway, while Lost & Found denim’s trendy long sleeve sweater and corset combo’s brought a modern “fashionista” statement to the show.
The show concluded with a generous $500 donation by Howard University’s UGSA accompanied by Fabolous towards building filtered water systems in Flint daycares. The show ended on a high note as brand Obioma closed the show with bold African prints and Dashiki’s.
