The Digital Content Department is a newly defined department and position which encompasses both management and administrative ability. This department works to enhance and maintain the WHBC website, social networking sites, and the channel 51 slide show by incorporating multimedia and written content to accurately cater to the market.

Digital Media Manager: Devyn Rorie

Devyn Rorie is senior Public Relations major from Columbia, Maryland. She hopes to use her passions for music, writing, and multimedia to make an impact in the entertainment industry. Devyn began her journey with WHBC as a freshman, volunteering for the Promotions and Web departments. Last year Devyn served as the Web Content Manager, where she managed a team of 20 videographers, photographers and bloggers to produce refreshing content for WHBC’s multimedia platforms. WHBC has played a pivotal role in her Howard experience, as it has given her exposure to the digital realm of radio, whether that’s writing articles, editing videos, or using social media to promote events. This year, as the Digital Content Manager Devyn hopes to push and motivate her team of coordinators to continue to use the virtual presence of the station to re-spark the interest of students. Multimedia Coordinator: Alexis Young

Alexis Young is a junior Public Relations major, Photography minor from Los Angeles, California. She has gained experience in her concentrations by working as an audio/visual volunteer for Howard’s Blueprint Homecoming, doing freelance photography for Teen Vogue, interning for RnBass, and also serving on Tsol Apparel’s public relations team. After graduating from Howard University, Alexis envisions herself becoming a creative director, while also being immersed in editorial photography for a major fashion brand.

Web Editor: Sydney Williams 

Sydney Williams is a junior Journalism major from Atlanta, Georgia. She is WHBC’s copy editor in the Digital Content department for the 2017-2018 school year. Sydney has been involved with WHBC since her freshman year as a volunteer for the web and promotion departments. In addition to WHBC, Sydney is also very active in the School of Communications. She is a HUSA Senator, web editor for Spotlight Network, and president of the Howard University Association of Black Journalists. During summer 2017, she interned at MSNBC at Meet the Press with Chuck Todd. In the future, Sydney aspires to use her passion for digital media to pursue a career as a multimedia journalist.  As WHBC’s digital copy editor, Sydney aspires to help budding journalists reach their potential by cultivating their writing abilities.
