Rockstar Award Categories

Almost every year, a radio station will host a large scale event to celebrate various accomplishments and birthdays of that station. Dedicated listeners come, honors to various personalities are given, and a slight difference is made.  At Howard, we took this concept and made it better by not only celebrating us but celebrating our campus and the student’s energy and drive for success. We are all Rockstars, and this annual event is chosen to highlight the best in various unique categories that sets Howard above the norm and makes us all the Rockstars that we are.

Athlete of the Year (Honor)

The athletics department at Howard has done an excellent job this year bringing our sports teams to the next level. From Midnight Madness to the football and basketball games, our athletes have been true Rockstars and have really worked to improve the legacy of Howard. This year, we would like to honor a student athlete who has proven their Rockstar status on and off the field.

Alumni Award (Honor)

As one matriculates through college, on learns that there are particular people who truly make this institution what it is: the faculty and administration, the student body, and the Alumni. If Alumni didn’t come back and continue to pull the student body from the learning environment into the working environment, Howard would not have the reputation it does. Alumni continue to shine and create opportunities of a lifetime for students. This award goes to an exemplary figure that has gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide a service never gone under appreciated.

Service/ Humanitarian Award (Honor)

Humanitarianism is an ethic of kindness, benevolence, and sympathy extended universally and impartially to all human beings. With the many different circumstances facing college students today, it is not often that you can find one who dedicated extensive amounts of time to giving back and to service. Reaching back in the community and planting seeds are important qualities of good leadership and outstanding character. This award is to highlight a student or organization that has proven outstanding service within Howard’s campus, the DC Community, or around the country.
